Help & Support
Answers to common questions about finding housing, writing reviews, reporting problems, and managing your Student Tenants account.
1.0Getting Started
Student Tenants helps college students research off campus housing. Search apartments near your university, filter by price, bedrooms, and amenities, and view listings on the map. Each listing shows reviews from student tenants, including the rent they actually paid and whether they would rent again.
Save apartments you are considering with the heart icon; we will notify you if their price, availability, or ratings change. Complete the preference survey in your profile to have listings that match your budget and lifestyle highlighted. For state by state renting law explainers, see our renting guides and tenant rights hub.
2.0Reviews & Reports
Anyone with a verified student account can review an apartment they have lived in. Reviews cover management, maintenance, and value, whether you would rent again, and the rent you paid. Reviews are published anonymously: property owners never see your name, email, or account details, and your review is attributed only as "Student."
If a landlord withheld your deposit, ignored maintenance, or violated your lease, you can file a report with photo and document evidence. Our moderators review every report before it goes live, and evidence is automatically redacted (names, contact details, and signatures are blacked out) before anything becomes publicly visible. Leases are used solely to verify your tenancy to our moderators and are never shown to owners. See the Community Guidelines for what is and is not allowed.
The only thing that can compel us to disclose who wrote a review or report is valid legal process such as a court order. We resist those demands where the law allows and, unless legally prohibited, notify you before any court-ordered disclosure. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
See something inaccurate or abusive? Use the flag option on any review or report to send it to our moderation team, or use the Block reviewer button to hide a reviewer's content on your device.
3.0Account Help
Student accounts are free and require a university (.edu) email address to verify you are a student. Guardian accounts for parents and guardians are available without a .edu address. If you have trouble signing up or logging in, first try the Forgot Password option on the login screen; if that does not resolve it, email [email protected].
You can permanently delete your account at any time from your profile in the app or on the web. For step by step instructions, what gets deleted, and how to request deletion if you can no longer log in, see Delete Your Account.
4.0Privacy Choices
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how it is used. You can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information at any time on the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. On the iOS app, you can also decline or revoke tracking permission under Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Tracking on your device.
